Bite Occlusion DentistryJust about anyone who has had dental care of one sort or another.... from routine general dentistry all the way to complex restorative and/or recontruction dentistry is familiar with the "average" way doctors assess bite characteristics.... the articulation (carbon) paper method.Basically the patient bites down on the paper (other types include waxes, pressure indicator paste, etc.) and carbon (or some other coloring agent) is deposited on the "high spots."

The example 3-D rendering provided here shows the high spots (yellowish-red) on each and every tooth that will need to be addressed during treatment.With articulation paper marks, there is no correlation between the depth of the color and the mark, its surface area, amount of force, or the contact timing sequence that results as that paper mark is made. The T-Scan II Occlusal Analysis system precisely determines the amount of force within a given paper mark.
