Gingiva treatments were once considered the exclusive domain of Periodontists, specialists in the treatment of supportive and connective tissues. The recent advent of smile makeovers (popularized by television programs) created a new focus on gum tissue surgery.Specialized dental lasers that are now designed for both hard and soft tissues were proven to be the technology of choice for creating near text-book examples of what gingival arches are supposed to look like, in relation to the size of a patient's tooth structures. Tissue Laser versus Piezoelectric TechnologyMany cosmetic dentists, like Dr. Marinic, have made investments in Laser Dentistry that provides a degree of accuracy that, in many cases, surpasses outdated manual procedures. Non laser based (Peizoelectric technology) gingival tissue trimming is also available to assure our patients they have their choice of treatment methods for creating attractive gum tissue framing for reconstructive makeovers. Common Laser Dentistry ProceduresCrown Lengthening (exposing more tooth structure) has also become near effortless with modern lasers and offers additional options to preserve healthy tooth structures.
