Our on-site dental lab was developed about 6 years after our practice became established as a popular resource in the Chicago Metro area for cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.Necessity the Mother of Invention?
The desire for providing the highest attainable degree of precision reconstructive and rehabilitative dentistry could only be achieved through control of certain laboratory processes that create the components for reconstructive dentistry.The solution for delivering what his patients demanded, or longed for, was achieved by Dr. Marinic developing his own in-office dental lab. The immediate availability of certain fabrication processes enables us to develop precision dental components that are critical in rehabilitative makeovers.
Errors that are considered to be commonplace in modern dentistry (wrong shade, bulky crowns, mis-colored veneers, ill-fitting dentures, mis-matched bridgework, etc) that typically require additional time consuming dental lab work and delays in completing treatment are practically eliminated.
State of the Art 3 Dimensional Cone Beam CatScans
The Galileos Cone Beam scanning aparatus was recently acquired by Dr. Marinic that now enables our patients to have catscans performed, in office, instead of conventional 2 dimensional xrays. Dr. Marinic consults closely with the patient when developing treatment plans that involve the use of laboratory products and services. The patient has not only the opportunity to express their particular interests regarding cosmetic or reconstructive outcomes... they are enabled to monitor it closely... assuring they obtain their desired goal. In complex reconstructive cases where a variety of procedures, technologies and precision laboratory work are involved... Dr. Marinic monitors certain laboratory fabrication procedures to assure that while Cosmetic goals are being maintained.... certain Reconstructive goals are being achieved which typically include tooth function or the restoration of normal jaw joint function (usually regarded as bite-occlusion-TMJ issues).Inadequate control or monitoring of the reconstructive aspects of dental laboratory products can result in bite problems, generalized mouth and gum pain, onset of TMJ/TMD problems which may include migraine headache symptoms, etc.
Our patients characteristically enjoy extremely short waiting periods while laboratory work is being completed. In rare events where adjustments are needed.... the laboratory work is often performed while the patient is in the chair.
